The arguments are over, the courts have adjourned, now its back to the water. Between 8th of February and 12th February, BMW Oracle will take on holders, Alinghi. the race will be the best of three races held on Monday 8th, Wednesday 10th and if required on Friday 12th February.

New York Court decides it has to be Valencia. The 33rd America's Cup will take place in Valencia after all.

Rumours continue. BMW Oracle and Alinghi are back in front of the New York judge - judgement day is now 9th August. In the mean time BMW Oracle says it wants to hold the next competition in Valencia and wants to organise a regatta in October - at a much lower cost than the previous regattas.

All bets are off. BMW Oracle and Alinghi have not agreed anything and BMW is back in front of the judges. Apparently the bosses of BMW Oracle and Alinghi are not best friends! It should at least make the racing interesting! However, it looks like it will be the default option of a dual of multi-hulls in Valencia before the end of Febuary 2010.

BMW Oracle has proposed that the next America's Cup take place in Valencia in 2011 with the same rules as the 2007 (32nd edition). Crucially, it proposes that it be run at a lower cost which inevitably means that Valencia will be the base for the America's Cup for the next few years and long distance regattas will be relocated to either Valencia or bases nearer by (such as Mallorca).
2nd April - 2009
BMW Oracle wins the legal battle with Alinghi and earns the right to be the challenger for the next America's cup in 2010 or possibly 2011. The two litigants may still negotiate to allow a multi-challenger race, but the boat design is more likely to be super-fast multi hulls rather than single hulls. The race will take place in Valencia.

After battles between the central Spanish government and the regional Valencia government, the regional government has agreed to foot the bill of two America's Cup regattas to take place in July between the 10th and 19th and again in September from the 15th of September onwards. The second regatta is dependent on the imminent decision due in New York on the battle between Alinghi and BMW Oracle. The regional government will spend up to 18 million Euros on these two regattas.

Spanish central government minster confirms that she expects the America's Cup to take place in 2010 in Valencia. By this date the new high speed AVE will contact Valencia and Madrid and the building work around the area will be complete.

The 33rd Amercia's cup will take place in Valencia no matter who wins the current legal battle between Alinghi and BMW Oracle, said Ernesto Bertarelli, owner of the Alinghi team. The only question is whether it will be a traditional mono-hull event - favoured by Alinghi or a super power race on multi-hulls favoured by BMW Oracle.

19 teams have been accepted into the 33rd America's Cup race which is scheduled for early summer 2010. This list includes 8 new entries, including entries from the UK and Russia. Which, if either won, would take the cup to new and interesting waters.
